Lens replacement service · 20+ years in optics
Lens replacement in your own frames
Yes, you can replace just the lenses. If your frame is in good shape, we fit it with new lenses — sunglass, polarized, prescription or plano — cut to the exact profile of your frame. You keep the glasses that already fit you instead of buying a whole new pair. Fully online, installation included.

What it is for
When replacing your lenses makes sense
Lens replacement works for sunglasses and for prescription eyeglasses alike. These are the cases that reach our lab most often.
Scratched lenses
Scratches scatter light, kill contrast and tire your eyes, especially at night or while driving. Replacing the lens is the real fix: polishing does not work.
Cracked or broken lenses
A drop usually takes out the lens, not the frame. If the frame survived, we fit a new pair and your glasses are back.
Your prescription changed
New Rx, same frame. We make prescription lenses, single vision or progressive, for the frame you already own.
Hazy or worn coatings
Over the years anti-reflective and mirror coatings start to peel and the lens looks milky. That is replaced, not restored.
You want a different tint
Same frame, new character: gray, brown, G-15, mirrored or polarized to cut glare off water and pavement.
You have a frame with no lenses
Inherited, second-hand or display frames: we cut and fit whatever lenses you need, with or without prescription.

Our service is lens replacement: custom cutting and fitting. If your frame also needs soldering, temples or nose pads, send us a photo first and we will tell you where you stand before you ship it.
Brands
Custom-cut lenses for the brands people actually wear
We work from the model and size code engraved on the temple of your glasses (RB2140 or OO9102, for example), so the lens comes out with the right curve and measurements. Cannot find the engraving? Send us a photo and we will identify it.
Brand not on the list? We also cut lenses for other and unbranded frames. Ask us with a photo of your frame. All brand names are the property of their respective owners; ReFramed is not affiliated with them.
Replace or rebuy
Why new lenses beat a whole new pair
When a lens gets scratched, what failed is the lens, not the frame. A good frame lasts years: replacing only the lenses costs a fraction of a comparable new pair, and you skip breaking in another fit.
| New lenses | A whole new pair | |
|---|---|---|
| Your frame | You keep the one that already fits you | You start over with a different fit |
| Cost | 60-70% less than the original factory lens | You pay for frame and lenses all over again |
| Discontinued model | Does not matter: we cut to your frame | Your model may no longer exist |
| Prescription | Update the Rx without changing frames | New frame plus new Rx |
| Footprint | One less frame in the landfill | A full pair thrown away |
Price
What drives the price of a lens replacement?
Three things: the lens type (classic, polarized, mirrored, photochromic), whether it carries a prescription and how strong, and your frame model. You see the exact price on each lens before you buy, and fitting is included at no extra cost.
Coverage
Lens replacement without setting foot in a store
The whole process happens online. Wherever you are, pickup and return travel on a prepaid, tracked label, and your frame is traceable from the first scan to your doorstep.
In Chile the service runs through the Bluexpress network, with 3,200+ drop-off points from Arica to Punta Arenas.
FAQ
What everyone asks before shipping their glasses
Can I replace only the lenses and keep my frame?
Yes, that is exactly the point: put your healthy frame back to work with new lenses. It applies when they are scratched, cracked or when your prescription changed. You spend less than on a complete pair and you keep wearing the frame that already fits and that you like.
Where can I get my lenses replaced?
You do not need a walk-in store. At ReFramed lens replacement is fully online: we send you a prepaid label, you drop your frame at a carrier point, we cut and fit the new lenses in our own lab and ship them back to your door with tracking.
How much does lens replacement cost?
It depends on the lens type and whether it carries a prescription. You see the price of each pair on the product page before buying, with fitting already included — we do not charge separately for the install. For reference, our lenses run 60-70% below the original factory lens.
Check prices by model or write to us with a photo of your frame and your prescription.
Do you do sunglasses and prescription eyeglasses?
Both: sunglasses (Ray-Ban, Oakley, Costa Del Mar, Maui Jim and other brands) and prescription eyeglasses, single vision or progressive. Our craft is lens replacement — custom cutting and fitting. If your frame also needs soldering or new temples, ask us first.
Can scratched lenses be polished instead of replaced?
We do not recommend it: polishing changes the curvature and the power of the lens and destroys coatings such as anti-reflective and UV filters. It may look fixed, but optically it is worse. Replacing the lens is safer, and often costs less than people expect.
Does it work with any frame?
Almost all of them. We only need the frame to be structurally sound: no cracks in the rim and no loose hinges. We work with sunglass and optical frames in acetate, metal and rimless builds. If you are unsure, send us a photo and we will check it before you ship.
How do I ship my glasses without damaging them?
Pack the frame in its hard case, wrapped in bubble wrap, inside a small box or a padded mailer — never a paper envelope. No printer at home? Most drop-off points can print the label from your order number. From the first scan you can track your frame both ways.
What warranty covers the service?
A 30-day warranty. If the result does not convince you, we refund your money; and if anything about the fitting fails, we redo it at no cost. We are our own optical lab with in-house opticians — we do not forward your glasses to a third party.
